Waterfront Open House - As part of the Welcome Week activities, the Waterfront will hold an Open House starting at 3:00pm on Tuesday, August 26. The Open House will include a water fitness presentation, a learn to kayak adventure, SCUBA diving interactive instruction, kitesurfing information and a Keelboat sailing experience. Bring your bathing suit. Food will be provided!
Intramural Swim - Events held every Wednesday evening for 8 weeks, concluding with a team event championship swim meet. Meeting held on Wednesday, September 10 at 6:00pm to discuss rules and schedule.
Pooling Around for USFSP Aquatics - 2nd Annual Fundraiser for Aquatic Programs here at USF St. Petersburg. The event will be held on Wednesday, November 12 from 12:00 noon until 6:00 pm. Come join us for fun, food and prizes! Register here.
Lifeguard Games - USFSP Waterfront Lifeguards won 3rd place overall at the 1st Annual Pinellas Aquatics Council Lifeguard Games on August 2, 2008. Our guards also won 1st place in the Passive Drowning Relay!

Adventures
Keelboat Overnight Sail - We sail our large keelboats out of Tampa Bay and into the Gulf of Mexico. A stop is planned at Egmont Key. The trip schedule is subject to change due to weather. Trip Date: Adventure I, November 7, 8, 9

Kayak Adventure Day Trip – We’ll transport the kayaks to one of our area’s beautiful Aquatic Preserves and kayak for the afternoon. No experience necessary. We will travel as a group. Next Trips: Weedon Island on Saturday, September 13 and Shell Key on Sunday October 12.
Snorkel & Kayak Adventure Day Trip – We’ll travel to the Rainbow River to spend the afternoon kayaking and snorkeling in the natural spring water. We might even see a manatee! Next trip: Sunday, November 2
Camping Adventure Overnight Trip – We’ll travel to one of Florida’s parks for a night of gourmet fireside dining, midnight frisbee, and sleeping in tents. Trip date: TBA
Eco-Cruise - Learn about the environment while sailing the Tampa Bay waters. Cruise Dates: Thursdays: Sept. 18, Oct. 2, Oct. 16, Nov. 6, and Nov. 20 from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm. Remember to bring a lunch!
Workouts
USF St. Petersburg has been selected as the 2007 Top Aquatic Program in the State of Florida by the USWFA
Water Workout - Jump in the pool for a low impact aerobic workout lead by certified United States Water Fitness Association instructor. Classes begin August 26 and run until November 22 every Tuesday & Thursday 3:00-4:00pm & Saturday 11:00am-12:00 noon.
Water BootCamp - Enjoy a high intensity combination of conditioning and toning. This cardio workout will employ a combination of intervals that will give you a total body workout taught in the pool by a certified United States Water Fitness Association instructor. Classes begin August 25 and run until November 21 and run every Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 8:30am - 9:30am.
Classes
Intro to Kitesurfing - Taught in partnership with the Kitesurfing Club at USFSP, this class will teach you the skills and help you acquire the knowledge necessary to responsibility ride the wind and waves of Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. All necessary kitesurfing gear is provided for the duration of the class. Upon conclusion of the Learn to Kitesurf Class you will be ready for individualized progressive instruction.
Progressive Kitesurfing - We will be on the water riding next to you, keeping you safe and sharing tips and tricks every step of the way. We’ll teach you the skills and help you acquire the knowledge necessary to responsibility ride the wind and waves. All necessary kitesurfing gear is provided for the duration of the class. Upon conclusion of the Progressive Kitesurfing Class we hope that you will be ready to ride at Kitesurfing Club Events.
Scuba Diving – Beginning and Advanced Open Water classes. Classes are composed of lecture and in water sessions, followed by open water dives. Various times and days. Underwater fossil diving classes offered. Classes start in September.
Swimming Lessons - Learn-to-Swim features six levels of instruction to help swimmers of all ages and abilities develop their skills. Various times and days. Private lessons available.
Lifeguard Training -Learn the skills necessary to become a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard right here at the USFSP pool. Certification includes Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer taught in a 30-hour course. Classes begin September 6 and October 11.
*NEW* Fishing Clinic – Our Fishing Clinics have been designed to teach basic and intermediate techniques to be used from beach areas, kayaks, small powerboats, and sailboats. No fishing or boating experience is required. You may borrow our gear or use your own. Each clinic will be focused on a specific skill practiced on local waters. Various dates and times.
Learn to Sail - A perfect class for those who have never sailed or have not sailed in a longtime. You will rig and sail a FJ sailboat in the protected waters of Tampa Bay. Class sessions starting throughout the semester.
Laser Sailing - The Laser is a single sail race boat built to be sailed by one person. This class will prepare you to rig, launch, and safely enjoy the Laser Sailboat in Tampa Bay. Must have completed the Learn to Sail or sailing experience.
J-24 Sailing - A one day event for those of you who are currently Suncat (keelboat) certified, but wish to sail the J24. Clinic covers major things you need to know in order to safely handle the J24.

aboard Shutterspeed or Wanderer to provide a professional experience. Sit
back, relax, and enjoy the sunset and nighttime ride.
*NEW* Keelboat Sailing Experience— Join an instructor aboard one of our 33' or 37' keelboats for an afternoon on the water—No Prior Sailing Experience Necessary.
Coastal Cruising I - Prior keelboat sailing experience required. Learn the systems and basic operations of a large keelboat. WANDERER is the Waterfront’s 37 foot center cockpit keelboat. Class sessions coming soon!
Kayak and Canoe SmartStart- Learn how to safely handle a kayak and canoe in our harbor and Tampa Bay. You’ll acquire basic safety information and paddling skills to help you enjoy your time on the water.
Basic Water Rescue - Learn the skills necessary to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies. Successful completion leads to American Red Cross certification. Class offered Saturday, September 27.
Pool Rental - Pool Rentals are perfect for birthday parties, celebrations, or just for a good time. Call the Waterfront Office for reservation information.
Sailing Team
The USF Sailing Team is consistently ranked among the top collegiate sailing programs in the nation. The Team is comprised of both varsity women athletes and coed club members. They practice 3 days per week and travel to regional and national competitions.
All patrons must complete a medical form and waiver prior to using the Waterfront Facility.
