The I.M.A.N.I. Council serves the community of the University of South Florida St. Petersburg by initiating and continuing multicultural programs and activities with a strong emphasis on social, recreational, educational, and diverse areas. These programs and activities strive to encourage and celebrate community togetherness, provide a valuable resource, and learning experiences for those involved. We partake in the development of student leadership through active membership and strong campus and community involvement and growth. We challenge our peers, faculty/staff and community members to honor, appreciate and celebrate our Diverse World.

IMANI Council members assist the Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs in developing and coordinating multicultural programs which promote diversity and inclusion for the campus community. Council members should appreciate and respect individuals of every race, creed, religion, national origin, and/or sexual orientation.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Plan, promote, and implement diverse and multicultural programs that reflect the needs of the campus community.
  • Must be able to communicate and relate to individuals of diverse backgrounds.
  • Assist in the recruitment and the retention of minority students.
  • Serve as a role model and resource for the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
  • Assist the Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs with trainings and presentations.
  • Advertise programs and workshops.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Create Flyers
  • Filing
  • Mailings
  • Data entry
  • Typing
  • Greeting office visitors
  • Special projects
  • Additional tasks as assigned

Education/Experience

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel).  Individuals with excellent verbal and written skills are strongly desired.  Must be customer service oriented.

Conditions of Employment for IMANI Council:

You are viewed as a role model at all times. Therefore, you are expected to:

  • Be a full-time student enrolled at USF St. Petersburg.
  • Be in good academic and judicial standing.
  • You can not be on judicial or academic probation during any period as an IMANI Council Member.
The IMANI Council position is a full academic year commitment.
