An applicant must provide evidence of acceptance as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. institution at the time of the award. Students must pursue a related full-time course of study in the atmospheric or related oceanic or hydrologic sciences over a full academic year. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or hold permanent resident status and maintain a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The Society encourages applications from women, minorities, and disabled students, traditionally underrepresented in the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. Must be able to document need for financial assistance. Deadline: May 15 Amount of Scholarship: $2,000 - $4,000 Additional Information: www.planning.org Contact: American Planning Association Criteria: Applicants must be graduate students and civilian citizens of the United States preparing dissertations in the history of warfare. There are three fellowships available: one for dissertations exploring the material culture of the Army, two for more general areas of military history. Requirements include: official transcripts, proposed plan of research, letter of recommendation from an academic director that includes a statement approving the dissertation topic, two other letters of recommendation, and a writing sample of approximately 25 pages (entire piece, not fragment). Individuals who have held or accepted equivalent fellowships from any Department of Defense agency are not eligible. Individuals who accept a Center of Military History fellowship may not accept a fellowship from another institution for a period concurrent with the Center's fellowship. Applicants must have completed by September all requirements for a Ph.D. except for the dissertation. Deadline: January 15 Amount of Scholarship: $10,000 Contact: US Army Center of Military History Avis Rent A Car Scholarship Criteria: This is a graduate-level scholarship specifically for individuals who have already gained experience in the travel industry. Applicant must submit a 500-750-word essay explaining how the graduate program relates to his/her future career in the travel industry. The applicant must have a minimum of four years of full-time travel agency experience, and must currently be an owner/officer or employee of a travel agency. He/she must be enrolled in a minimum of two courses per semester in an accredited MBA or MS in Business or equivalent graduate degree program at a 4-year accredited college/university. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 average on a 4.0 scale and provide transcripts from the last academic term. If reentering school after spending time in the work force, applicant must submit an undergraduate transcript. The scholarship is renewable for up to three years provided the applicant maintains a superior grade point average. The applicant must be a resident, citizen, or legal alien of the United States or Canada.
