Army ROTC Scholarships: http://www.goarmy.com/rotc/scholarships.jsp Dissertation Fellowships Criteria: Applicants must be graduate students and civilian citizens of the United States preparing dissertations in the history of warfare. There are three fellowships available: one for dissertations exploring the material culture of the Army, two for more general areas of military history. Requirements include: official transcripts, proposed plan of research, letter of recommendation from an academic director that includes a statement approving the dissertation topic, two other letters of recommendation, and a writing sample of approximately 25 pages (entire piece, not fragment). Individuals who have held or accepted equivalent fellowships from any Department of Defense agency are not eligible. Individuals who accept a Center of Military History fellowship may not accept a fellowship from another institution for a period concurrent with the Center's fellowship. Applicants must have completed by September all requirements for a Ph.D. except for the dissertation. Applicant must physically reside with Soldier at the assisned location. Second undergraduate, Graduate and off-post students are not eligible. Spouses may be part or full-time students. Scholarship awards will be awarded up to half the cost of tuition. Awards are based on financial need, as evidenced by income, assets, family size, and special circumstances. The mailing address for this scholarship is: Army Emergency Relief Headquarters (or AER HQ), Major General James Ursano Scholarship Fund Criteria: Scholarships are available for dependent children, stepchildren, or legally adopted children of Army soldiers (active, retired, or deceased) Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA, be a full time student, be unmarried the entire academic year, and under the age of 22 on May 1, 2005 to receive awards for the 2005-2006 academic year. Award decisions are based primarily according to financial need, secondarily on academic acheivements and individual accomplishments. Continuing students must apply each year. Must meet the State of Florida's eligibility requirements for state aid, not have previously obtained a bachelors degree and enroll in a public or private post secondary institution. Applicants can not owe repayment of a grant under any federal grant program or be in default on any federal loan. Students must be full time and be seeking their first undergraduate degree. Active Duty military personnel are not eligible. Stateside and Overseas Spouses who receive free tuition as a result of their employment are only eligible to apply for assistance for fees, supplies, and books for classes in which they are enrolled.
